Merry Christmas everyone. I am one day before my final weigh-in for this year and my “diet” has taken an interesting turn. Perhaps I shouldn’t say the diet per se, but the measurement.

Santa / my wife was very good to me this year. I got a rather funky set of scales: this bad boy.

Withings body cardio - Merry Christmas for me

I have the black version and it’s connected to my WiFi so is automatically updating my measurements. It even shows you the weather πŸ™‚

2 Key Measurements

Besides the actual weight measurement the 2 things for me that I was particularly interested in were the fat mass measurements, and associated metrics, and of course pulse rate. I have a real blood pressure monitor that I have been using weekly to record my systol and diastol readings, but now I can get my pulse from the scales. In fact, I can also measure my pulse from my phone and the Withings app πŸ™‚

App

The app can also be connected with Google Fit, so steps can be measured by the phone. This almost obsoletes the Polar Flow that I have been using. But I’ll keep the Flow for a while longer since I don’t carry my phone everywhere – ah, who am I kidding?

Anyway, some new measurements to consider in the coming weeks and months. Perhaps some new challenges to get my fat / fitness levels into better shape?

Goals

Am I going to achieve my 2016 weight loss goal?

To be honest, unlikely now. I will be close, but interestingly there was quite a difference between my regular scales and the Withings one, so let’s see. I’ll be updating that information soon.
